BCCI has constituted a three-member committee to look into the matter of Wriddhiman Saha. In this case, the senior journalist is accused of threatening Saha. The BCCI has informed that now the committee will start proceedings early next week. This three-member committee includes BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, BCCI Treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal and BCCI Apex Council member Prabhatej Singh Bhatia. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may seek clarification from them regarding this. The board believes that they have violated the protocol for centrally contracted cricketers.
Saha is in Group B of the central contract with an annual retainership of Rs 3 crore. He has violated clause 6.3. Earlier, wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha had decided not to reveal the name of the journalist who threatened the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for interviews. Saha said, “I have not received any letter from BCCI yet.
In accordance with this clause, no sportsperson shall make any comment in the media, which in the opinion of the BCCI is prejudicial to the sport, officials, events in the game, use of technology, selection matters or any other matter relating to the sport, or Not in the interest of the game, team or board. The comments Saha made in the media are about his selection and his personal conversations with Dravid, selectors Chetan Sharma and Ganguly.
If they ask me (journalist’s) name, I will tell them that it was never my intention to harm anyone’s career, to humiliate any person. That’s why I didn’t reveal the name in my tweet. This is not my parents’ education. The main purpose of my tweet was to highlight the fact that there is someone in the media who does such things, disrespecting the will of a player.
