Suryakumar Yadav, who played a key role in Team India’s victory in the T20 series against West Indies, has also been ruled out of the upcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka. According to the Cricbuzz report, Suryakumar has a hairline fracture in his hand and has been declared unfit for the T20 series by the team management.
Suryakumar was the Player of the Series
When the 31-year-old Suryakumar suffered the injury, it has not been confirmed in the report. It is being told that he suffered an injury while fielding in the last T20 match played against West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Suryakumar was also awarded the Player of the Series title in the T20I series against West Indies.
Deepak Chahar also out of T20 series
He is the second Indian player after Deepak Chahar to be ruled out of the upcoming T20I series. Deepak suffered a strain in his right thigh while taking a run-up for bowling in the third T20 against West Indies. After that he was unable to bowl even four overs of his quota. He was sent back to the dugout.
BCCI has not yet confirmed
The BCCI is yet to officially confirm Suryakumar’s injury or announce a replacement. In Deepak’s absence, there are already many fast bowlers in the squad. In such a situation, the board hardly gives a chance to anyone else in his place. At the same time, it will be interesting to see who gets a chance in place of Suryakumar.
Suryakumar also participated in the practice session
Suryakumar also participated in Team India’s practice session on Tuesday. However, he did not practice much. Now he can take rest for a few days. India will play the first T20 against Sri Lanka on 24 February. After this, both the teams will go to Dharamsala for the next two T20s. Both these matches will be played on 26 and 27 February.
