IND vs SL 1st Test: India has registered a big win against Sri Lanka in the Mohali Test match. India bundled out Sri Lanka for 174 in the first innings on the third day of the game, then followed-on to bowl Sri Lanka out for 178 in the second innings as well. Thus India won by an innings and 222 runs. India posted a mammoth total of 574 runs in the first innings, including an unbeaten 175 from Ravindra Jadeja. Ravindra Jadeja also showed amazing in bowling, taking 5 wickets in the first innings of Sri Lanka and has taken 4 wickets in the second innings so far.
Jadeja repeated history
Ravindra Jadeja has made a historic performance in the Mohali test match. After 60 years in Indian Test cricket, an Indian player took more than 150 runs and 5 wickets in a Test match. The last time Polly Umrigar scored 172 runs and took 5 wickets in the same test match against West Indies was in 1962. Apart from this, Jadeja has become the third Indian player in Test cricket to have the record of taking more than 150 runs and 5 wickets in a Test match. Apart from Polly Umrigar, Vinoo Mankad took 184 runs and 5 wickets for 196 runs in a Test match against England in 1952. Talking about international cricket, after 49 years, this is the first time in Test cricket, when a player has taken more than 150 runs and 5 wickets in a single test.
Talking about the Test match, India declared the innings after scoring 574 runs in the first innings. After this Sri Lanka’s first innings was reduced to only 174 runs. Jadeja took 5 wickets for India, while Ashwin and Bumrah got 2 wickets each. Shami got 1 wicket.
