Ranchi: Despite all the claims of unity, the constituent parties of the opposition alliance India in Jharkhand are not able to match each other. Somewhere due to the parties’ insistence on seats and somewhere due to the attitude of the rebels, the taste of the “khichdi” on the common stove of the alliance seems to be deteriorating. Even 20 days after the announcement of elections, the picture regarding candidature on seven out of 14 seats in the state is not clear, while on the other hand, NDA candidates are busy campaigning on all the 14 seats.
CPI and CPM parted ways
The situation is that the two left parties which were part of the alliance – CPI and CPM have parted ways. CPI has fielded its candidates on four seats — Chatra, Lohardaga, Palamu and Dumka. She can also field her candidate on Hazaribagh seat. CPI national council member Pramod Kumar Pandey said, “Earlier our party was part of the India alliance, but now we are contesting the Jharkhand elections independently. At present, the names of our candidates have been declared on four seats. We had proposed to give only one seat, Hazaribagh, under the alliance, but they did not accept it.”
Meanwhile, CPM’s Jharkhand State Secretary Prakash Viplav said that his party will contest elections from Rajmahal and Chatra Lok Sabha seats. There is a huge tussle between RJD and Congress on Chatra seat. Here both the parties are adamant on fielding their candidates. In 2019 also, the same situation had arisen in the Grand Alliance and the candidates of both had fielded together. Ultimately both had to face defeat.
JMM claims Lohardaga seat
Congress has fielded former MLA Sukhdev Bhagat from Lohardaga seat, but Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is still claiming it. JMM’s central general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya has asked the Congress to reconsider this seat. Here JMM is in a stronger position than that.
Actually, the party wants to field its MLA Chamra Linda from Vishunpur here. He is in a rebellious mood after Congress fielded its candidate. On Friday, he also distanced himself from the meeting of party MLAs and MPs held at the CM residence. He has made up his mind to enter the field independently.
Similarly, MLA Lobin Hembram has rebelled against Rajmahal seat. JMM has decided to field sitting MP Vijay Hansda again, while on the other hand, Lobin Hembram is ready to leave the party ticket and contest on his own. (Input-IANS)
