Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah visits his village every year on the occasion of Bhai Dooj and on the second day of Navratri. During this he also participates in the meeting of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Amit Shah himself is a cooperative leader and he made this disclosure on Monday during an event to commemorate the 100th International Day of Cooperation.
During the program Amit Shah’s cabinet colleague Purushottam Rupala took a dig at cooperative leaders and asked them how they contribute to the sector. After Union Minister Rupala spoke, Amit Shah replied, “Rupala sir, no matter how busy I am, even today I attend the AGM of my PACS.” The Home Minister mentioned that he visits the PACS office especially on the day of Bhai Dooj and on the second day of Navratri and thinks how to move the PACS.
During the program, Amit Shah said that both capitalism and communism are extreme models of economic development and have led to unbalanced development. He said that inclusive development can be ensured only by emphasizing on cooperatives.
Emphasizing on cooperatives, Amit Shah said, “If we want to convert unbalanced development into inclusive growth then we have to move forward with the resolve that a self-reliant India and a better world can be made only through cooperatives. It is India who gave the idea of co-operation to the world.”
Hitting out at the Congress, Amit Shah said, “India is a country where more than 60 crore, around 70 crore people are considered poor. Nothing can be better than cooperatives to make them financially self-reliant by connecting with the development of the country. These 70 crore (poor) people were not in a position to even dream of development in the last 70 years because only ‘Garibi Hatao’ slogan was given in the previous government. The Modi government has brought a radical change in the lives of these people.”
