Players and coaches have made serious allegations against Delhi Chief Secretary (Revenue) Sanjeev Khirwal at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi. It is alleged that Delhi Chief Secretary Khirwal asked the athletes to come out of the stadium for a walk with his dog. Due to which their practice is being hindered.
According to the allegation, the stadium is vacated by 7 o’clock even before the arrival of Sanjeev Khirwal. The players said that earlier they used to practice in the stadium till 8.30 pm. But Khirwal comes for a walk with his dog, for this the stadium is vacated so that he can take a walk.
At the same time, a coach said, “Earlier, we used to train players here in lights from 8 to 8.30 pm. But now we are asked to vacate the stadium by 7 pm. So that the officers can walk their dogs. Because of this, our routine and our training has been disrupted.”
On the allegations made by the players and the coach, IAS officer Sanjeev Khirwar said that all these allegations are absolutely false. Along with this, he admitted that he sometimes takes his pet for a walk in the stadium, but he said that it is wrong that due to my departure, the practice routine of athletes is disrupted. Khirwar is a 1994 batch IAS officer.
According to the Indian Express report, visiting the stadium on three evenings in the last seven days found the stadium guards going to the track at around 6.30 pm, blowing the whistle and ensuring that the entire ground is cleared by 7 pm.
Ajit Choudhary, on behalf of the stadium administration, told The Indian Express that the official stadium timings are 4 to 6 pm in the evening, but “in view of the heat” they allow athletes to train till 7 pm. On Tuesday, the Indian Express found in its investigation that Sanjeev Khirwar had reached the stadium after 7.30 pm with his dog.
