The Enforcement Directorate, which is probing the allegations of money laundering in the National Herald case, has again summoned Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Officials told on Friday (June 10, 2022) that the directorate has issued fresh summons to him to appear for questioning on June 23.
75-year-old Sonia Gandhi was earlier asked to appear on June 8, but she could not appear due to Corona being infected, so she had sought a new date from the investigating agency.
Officials said he has been given a fresh date of June 23 to appear before the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi, where his statement will be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
At the same time, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is also likely to be questioned in this case on June 13. The case pertains to an investigation into alleged financial irregularities in the Young Indian promoted by the party, which owns the National Herald newspaper.

Earlier on June 1, the ED had issued summons asking the Congress President to appear on June 8, but on June 2, he got corona. Because of this she could not appear and asked for a new date. The ED has also questioned Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Pawan Bansal in this case. The ED official wants to record the statements of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Apart from this, it also wants to find out about the role of everyone in financial transactions.
