The controversy that started regarding Gyanvapi Masjid is increasing. Politics is heating up regarding this. On Wednesday (May 18, 2022), in a debate on the news channel “Aaj Tak”, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi called the court’s decision to seal the mosque’s Vazukhana as a violation of a 1991 law. This law was made regarding disputed religious places. At the same time, Owaisi got furious on a question from the anchor about Aurangzeb and said that Aurangzeb vs Government of India. Make Aurangzeb a party by going to court.
“As long as there is a 1991 law, you cannot violate it. In 1991, that Wazukhana was there, prayers were held there. Behind the arch, worship was allowed once a year and in 1991, the High Court granted a stay of the court on this demand.
Is Aurangzeb responsible for petrol prices and jobs- Owaisi
He said, “When I am telling so many things, you are taking me on Aurangzeb. Is Aurangzeb responsible for petrol prices and jobs? Till when will you do the politics of Mughals, if Modi is in power, then leave the Mughals. Follow Parliament and the law. Why are there so many fascination with the Mughals, go and fight with them. Why are you tearing down the Muslims of India, the Constitution of India and the Supreme Court of India?”
The law that Owaisi is referring to is called the Place of Worship Law. The then PV Narasimha Rao government had brought this law. Under this law, a place of worship of any religion which came into existence before August 15, 1947, cannot be converted into a place of worship of another religion. The Ayodhya matter was in the court at that time, so it was kept out of the law.
Earlier, Owaisi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of leading to the riots. He said, “The Supreme Court order states that Muslims are allowed to perform religious rituals. Which means we can do wudu there. This is a fountain. If this happens then all the fountains of the Taj Mahal should be closed. The BJP wants to take the country back to the 1990s, when riots took place.”
