The Congress party is facing a leadership crisis and with the defeat in 5 states, the internal strife of the party is also coming out. Recently, Kapil Sibal had targeted the Gandhi family and said that now the family should back down. G-23, a group of leaders dissatisfied with the Congress party, is also continuously active and holding meetings. But now news is coming that there is dissatisfaction among some leaders even within the G-23 group.
The G-23 group was formed in August 2020 and it is a group of leaders who advocate for strengthening the Congress party by staying in the Congress party. They are also known as disgruntled leaders of the Congress party. But recently the old G-23 leaders did not reach the dinner party at Ghulam Nabi Azad’s house and it is believed that these leaders are no longer part of the G-23 group. Veerappa Moily, Milind Deora, Renuka Choudhary, Mukul Wasnik, Yoganand Shastri, Kaul Singh Thakur, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Ajay Singh did not attend the dinner party at senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s house.
Due to 8 leaders not reaching Azad’s dinner party, it is believed that this leader is no longer a part of this group. Please tell that Jitin Prasad was also involved in G-23 group but now he has joined BJP. A dinner party was held at Azad’s house on Wednesday night, in which 18 disgruntled Congress leaders reached. There was a meeting between these leaders for about 5 hours and after that the disgruntled leaders issued a statement saying that the party should go together with like-minded parties and prepare a strong alternative to challenge the BJP in 2024.
Let us inform that after this Congress President Sonia Gandhi met Ghulam Nabi Azad and this meeting lasted for about 1 hour. Talking to the media after meeting Sonia Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “We have never questioned the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. We had some suggestions which we have shared with them.”
Kapil Sibal had said during an interview to The Indian Express that the Gandhi family should back down. Sibal had also questioned Rahul Gandhi, saying in what capacity did Rahul Gandhi declare Charanjit Singh Channi as the chief minister’s face in Punjab, when he is not the party president. On Sibal’s statement, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had said that everything was good when he (Sibal) was a minister in the UPA government, now he is not in power then he feels bad.
