A cop under Bettiah was set ablaze in West Champaran, Bihar. This is a Saturday. News agency ANI reported that a person had died in police custody at Balthar police station, following which an agitated mob set the police station on fire. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of panic in the surrounding area. The police have also confirmed this incident.
Bettiah SP Upendra Nath Verma told reporters that the mob targeted and ransacked three police vehicles. A policeman also lost his life in the whole incident. According to Verma, a man died of a bee sting in police custody, following which there was a complete ruckus.
Meanwhile, several media reports said that the policemen were also beaten up by the mob while the police station was set on fire. At the same time, the officers did not reach there even after three hours of the incident.
