Special reporting software and helpline numbers have been launched by the Government of India, in less than 2 months, frauds of about 2 crores have been stopped.
Since the growing trend of online payments in India, the incidents of cybercrime are also witnessing a great increase. Cybercriminals take away money from people’s accounts in a very organized way. In view of the increasing incidents of cybercrime incidents in the country, the government has issued a helpline number. So that people who are victims of cyber fraud can get help immediately.
Helpline number 155260 has been issued by the government for the victims of cyber fraud. On which the complaint of any cybercrime incident can be lodged by calling. Presently, this project, which is running as a pilot project, is currently being implemented in only 7 states. In which Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are included.
The information about this will be given to the investigating agencies immediately after the complaint of cybercrime is registered. At present, all major public and private banks are involved in this project. Apart from this, payments banks and online wallets will also be involved in this project. In the coming time, this project will be expanded to other states of the country as well. With the help of this helpline, an amount of Rs 1.85 crore has been brought back from cyber fraudsters within two months after its launch.
Under this project, the amount of counterfeiting is refrigerated after informing the banks even before it goes into their hands. At present, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Union Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank are included. Apart from this, wallets like Paytm, PhonePe, MobiKwik, Flipkart and Amazon are also participating in this project.
