Violence broke out in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in which nine people, including eight policemen, were injured. Anti-social elements pelted stones on the procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, after which two communities came face to face. During this stone pelting, arson and even bullets were fired. The police had to use tear gas shells to control the situation. At the same time, the statement of Aslam’s uncle, accused of firing during this violence, has also come to the fore. The uncle of the accused Aslam said that the Delhi Police has leveled false allegations against his nephew.
Shaikh, the uncle of Aslam, who was accused of firing, said, “Delhi Police has wrongly leveled my nephew.” Sheikh claimed that Aslam was not present there at the time of the violence. On the allegations of firing on Aslam, Sheikh said, “The police think that if my nephew has fired, then shoot him.”
On the allegations of firing by the Delhi Police, the uncle of the accused said, “What is the video footage in which Aslam was seen firing, it should be shown. If Aslam is seen firing in the video footage, then I will cut my neck.” Sheikh claims that Aslam cannot do such a thing and that the police have implicated Aslam on false charges.
Police arrested 23 accused so far
The person who opened fire in Jahangirpuri violence was identified as Aslam, in this violence an ASI was shot. Police also recovered a pistol from the accused Aslam. So far, 23 accused have been arrested by the police in connection with the violence. According to Delhi Police, the situation in Jahangirpuri area is completely under control. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area and to maintain law and order, the police also marched on foot in the area.
