Opposition to the Agneepath scheme brought by the Center for recruitment in the army is being seen in many states of the country. There have been reports of arson in UP and Bihar. Meanwhile, Lt Gen Anil Puri, Additional Secretary, who made the Agneepath scheme, told many important things while talking to a private channel. He said that this scheme is needed in the army not from today but from the time of Kargil war.
Speaking to ABP news channel, Lt Gen Anil Puri said, “In today’s time the average age in the army is 32 years but during Kargil itself we were asked to raise this average age to 26 years. The purpose of Agneepath scheme is to bring more and more jawans under this scheme.
Let us tell you that in the protest against the Agneepath scheme, the question among the people is more that what will the youth do after giving four years of military service? On this question, Lt Gen Anil Puri said, “Under this scheme, the youth coming after 10th will get the certificate of 12th. With this, every youth who comes under this scheme will be disciplined after four years, which will be useful in their future and will make them confident.
Anil Puri said, “Most of the youth who join the army are from the village. In such a situation, under this scheme, he will be able to deposit Rs 12 lakh after serving in the army for 4 years. With which they can start some business. If they want, they can do farming by taking a new tractor. With this money, youth can do their jobs.”
He said that the coming generation will be far ahead of us in technology. The army can get the benefit of this understanding of theirs. Which can be used for the betterment of the defense of the country. The purpose of this scheme is to make the army young. Anil Puri said that this scheme is not of any one, it is a hole of the government approach. The decision on this plan was not taken in one day, but it is being considered for the last two years.
He said that keeping in view the demand of the people, the age of the candidates in this scheme has been increased from 21 years to 23 years. Anil Puri said that 25 percent of the youth joining the army under the Agneepath scheme would continue to serve the country even after four years. But another 75 percent of the youth will have the skills for the future. Army training will help the youth to move forward.
On the other hand, Anil Puri from NDTV said, “We are not in favor of arson. Such people have no place in the army. There is no place for indiscipline in the army.” Additional Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, Lt Gen Anil Puri said that the first priority is to make the Army a younger, modern and more effective force.
