West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Monday (May 23, 2022) attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party comparing it to Hitler, Stalin. He said that BJP government is worse than Hitler, Stalin regime.
He alleged that the central government was using central agencies to interfere in matters relating to the states. Targeting the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said autonomy should be given to central agencies to protect democracy. He said that it is crumbling the federal structure of India. “The BJP regime is worse than Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin or Benito Mussolini,” he said at a press meet.
At the same time, Mamta has also targeted BJP over the Centre’s decision to cut fuel and cooking gas prices under the Ujjwala scheme. He called it an election stunt. The TMC chief said that only below poverty level (BPL) card holders would benefit from the reduction in subsidy prices on fuel and cooking gas prices under the Ujjwala scheme. He said that such people are very few in the country.
Asked about the recent cut in fuel rates by the BJP-led central government and the Rs 200 subsidy on cooking gas under the Ujjwala scheme, Banerjee said the BJP uses these tactics before any election. A small part of the BPL category comes under the Ujjwala scheme. Asking the question, how will the poor people buy domestic gas at the cost of Rs 800?
He has accused the Center of earning huge revenue from excise tax. He said his cabinet has decided not to reduce VAT on diesel and petrol in the state.
