NSA Ajit Doval’s statement has come about the controversy that arose after the controversial remarks of Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal on Prophet Mohammad. He said that the controversy has affected India’s reputation at the international level. He has said these things in an interview with news agency ANI on Tuesday (June 21, 2022).
He said that some wrong things have been spread about India which are far from reality. Regarding the displeasure expressed by the Gulf countries in this matter, he said that we need to talk to them and persuade them. NSA Ajit Doval said that when people get emotionally agitated, their behavior is a bit inconsistent, but we have interacted with concerned people and we have been able to convince them.
Told the attack on Sikhs in Afghanistan unfortunate
Doval termed the bombing of a Sikh shrine in Afghanistan as “unfortunate” and said India was committed to extend all help to the minorities in that country. “We have given visas to a large number of Sikhs and as soon as flights are available, they will be brought here. Our sympathies are with him and it was a very unfortunate incident. We have assured the Sikhs and Hindus there that India will stick to its commitment.”
Doval also said on target killing in Kashmir
At the same time, regarding target killing in Kashmir, he said that the government is dealing with it. He said that after 2019, the mood of the people has changed, there are some people who are being misled. He expressed confidence that the situation there would be brought under control in the coming time. On the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, he said that they need security there. The government has done a lot in the past and there is probably much more to be done. He said that no government will be able to give security to every individual, so the best is that we go on the offensive against the terrorists.
Doval also said that India is ready for talks with Pakistan, but only on its own terms. “We have very good relations with our neighbours, which includes Pakistan. We would like to have good relations with them, but of course terrorism will not be tolerated at all.”
On the ongoing standoff with China in eastern Ladakh, Doval said, “We have a long-standing territorial dispute with China. We have made our intention clear to China. They know that we will not tolerate any kind of disturbance. Some untoward incidents have happened. We have been able to resolve some issues through dialogue. There are some things which are still complicated, for those we will continue our efforts. At the same time, we have to ensure that we remain alert and able to defend our borders.”
