Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated IN-SPACe (Indian National Center for Space Promotion and Authorization) in Ahmedabad to promote research and new technology in the field of space. Explaining the importance of IN-SPACe, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, a wonderful chapter has been added in the development journey of modern India of the 21st century. Many congratulations to all the countrymen and the scientific community for the IN-SPACe Headquarters.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present during the inauguration ceremony on Friday. After the inauguration, the Prime Minister inspected the headquarters. What is IN-SPACE?
IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center) is an independent nodal agency of the Department of Space, Government of India. It will give an equal opportunity to private companies to make use of Indian space infrastructure. Addressing the launch event of the Indian Space Association in October 2021, Prime Minister Modi shared information about IN-SPACe. He had said, IN-SPACe would act as a single-window for promoting the private sector in space and for all space related programmes.
In June 2020, the government announced the formation of IN-SPACe to ensure greater private participation in India’s space activities. The government at the time stated that ‘it would guide private industry in space activities by encouraging policies in a favorable regulatory environment’.
Seeing the potential of revolution in IN-SPACe, the Prime Minister today said, IN-SPACe will give an opportunity to the youth of India to showcase their talent. Whether they are working in government or in private sector. With the help of IN-SPACe, the private sector will not be just a vendor, but will play the role of big winners in the space sector. IN-SPACe will create great opportunities for all. It has the potential to revolutionize India’s space industry.
India will become more self-reliant in space with IN-SPACE
During the inauguration ceremony today, the Prime Minister said, India’s space mission has in a way been the biggest hallmark of self-reliant India. Now when this campaign will get the power of India’s private sector, you can imagine how much its power will increase. There are infinite possibilities in our country, but infinite possibilities can never be realized with limited efforts. I assure you that this process of reforms in the space sector will continue uninterruptedly.
