There was a lot of uproar in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly on the last day of the budget session over the Birbhum violence. There was a fight between BJP and TMC MLAs in the assembly, after which five BJP MLAs including Shubhendu Adhikari were suspended from the assembly. At the same time, during a TV debate on this issue, Congress described the state’s CM Mamta Banerjee as a follower of PM Modi’s footsteps.
During the debate show ‘Dangal’ of ‘Aaj Tak’, Congress spokesperson Subhankar Sarkar said, “The condition of the country and the condition of West Bengal is such that today the opposition is not being allowed to speak. The situation is the same in the Bengal Legislative Assembly and the same situation in the Parliament. What drama is this going on?”
Congress spokesperson said, “Today one MLA is beating another MLA. BJP is saying that TMC has beaten up, while TMC is speaking, BJP has beaten up. Whose responsibility is it? Who is responsible for this? Things that should be discussed are not being discussed. The Prime Minister also runs away from discussion on Hathras or any other incident in Parliament. Mamta Banerjee is also not ready to discuss. This match-fixing is going on.”
Responding to the allegations of Congress spokesperson, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “Above the farmers bill in the Rajya Sabha, we were saying that we were ready to debate, but were told… no, withdraw the law directly.. There will be no debate. . Such a situation was created that there was a murderous attack on the Deputy Speaker of the Rajya Sabha. Killed by throwing mike, killed by throwing books. This never happened, they did this.”
The BJP leader said, “When PM Modi withdrew the bill, there was a ruckus as to why the discussion was not taking place. Their only aim was to create a ruckus. On what the Congress leader said, I will say here that when the Congress and Communist Party workers were killed, both these parties did not speak. In a press conference, our Home Minister Amit Shah told the number of workers who belonged to Congress and Communist Party. When you did not stand with your workers, what would the public stand with you?”
