Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday announced that an anti-corruption helpline would be started in the state on March 23, Martyrs’ Day, and people of the state would be able to register complaints of corruption through WhatsApp. CM Bhagwant Mann gave information about this decision by tweeting. During the Punjab elections, the Aam Aadmi Party kept raising the issue of corruption loudly and attacked the then CM Charanjit Singh Channi.
CM Bhagwant Mann tweeted on Thursday, “On the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh ji, we will release the Anti Corruption Helpline Number. That would be my personal WhatsApp number. If anyone asks you for a bribe, send it to me by recording a video/audio of it. Strict action will be taken against the corrupt. Corruption will no longer work in Punjab.
Earlier, CM Bhagwant Mann had tweeted and said that a big decision will be taken today in the interest of the people of Punjab. He had said that till date in the history of Punjab no one would have taken such a decision, which will be taken now. Since then, various speculations were being made. At the same time, a few hours after this tweet, CM Mann has announced to start the Anti Corruption Helpline.
At the same time, Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal called the announcement of CM Bhagwant Mann to release the Anti-Corruption Helpline Number as a historic decision. CM Kejriwal said that the decision of the Aam Aadmi Party government against corruption in Punjab is historic. Corruption will no longer work in Punjab.
Addressing a press conference, CM Kejriwal said, “When our government was formed in Delhi for 49 days, we made a similar announcement and I issued a number. People sent a lot of video/audio to that number, within 49 days about 30-32 officers were punished, they were sent to jail, strict action was taken against them.
