Intelligence has arrested Pradeep Kumar, accused of spying for the Pakistani Intelligence Agency (ISI) in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Please tell that the accused was posted in the highly sensitive Jodhpur Regiment of the Army. He had joined the Indian Army only 3 years ago. Pradeep Kumar was in touch with a Pakistani female agent through social media and was sharing important information.
Director General of Police (Intelligence) Umesh Mishra said that the spying activities of Pakistani intelligence agency in Rajasthan are constantly monitored by Rajasthan Intelligence. During this surveillance, it came to notice that Pradeep Kumar, working in the highly sensitive regiment of the Indian Army, Jodhpur, is in contact with the PIO (Pakistani Intelligence Agency) through social media.
Umesh Mishra said that after getting information, the activities of Pradeep Kumar started being monitored by CID Intelligence Jaipur. Surveillance revealed that he was connected to the woman agent through social media and was sharing information of strategic importance. Acting on that army personnel, on May 18, after noon, custodial interrogation was started.
In a press note issued by the Rajasthan Police, it has been told that on interrogation, 24-year-old accused Pradeep told that he is originally a resident of Krishnanagar street number 1,0 police station Ganganahar, District Roorkee, Uttarakhand. He had joined the Indian Army 3 years ago. After training, he was appointed to the post of Gunner. Since then the accused was posted in the highly sensitive regiment, Jodhpur.
It was said in the press note that about 6-7 months ago, a call from the said woman was received on the mobile phone of the accused. After which both kept on chatting, voice calls and video calls on WhatsApp. The woman introduced herself as Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and described herself as working in MNS in Bangalore.
The woman agent used to talk to the accused about coming to Delhi and getting married and started asking for photos of confidential documents related to the army. On which the accused, trapped in the honeytrap, sent him a photo of a confidential document related to the army from his office. All the facts were confirmed in the investigation of the accused’s phone. On this, a case has been registered against the accused under the Official Secrets Act 1923 and arrested.
