Protests are going on across the country regarding the Agneepath scheme, while on the other hand pleas have also started to appeal to the Supreme Court. The second PIL in this matter was filed in the Supreme Court today. In this, an appeal has been made to the court to cancel the scheme, calling it a big threat to the security of the country.
It has been said in the petition that the tradition of name salt and mark in the army has been there for a long time. Will this scheme prove effective in taking it forward? Army battalions attach great importance to it. In this, the question has been asked that after four years of training, will Agniveer be like other soldiers of the army. Semi-trained soldiers can be a big threat to the security of the country.
The advocate who filed the PIL claims that the government is taking these steps to reduce the pension expenditure. That is, clearly economic matters are being given priority over the country’s army. This can pose a major security risk. 48 lakhs is being insured from LIC for Agniveers. Isn’t this a childish experiment with the military?

It has been said in the petition that there are already no job opportunities in the country for the retired soldiers. In such a situation, when Agniveer comes back after four years, will he get a respectable opportunity to earn a living? If not, then these soldiers may be involved in Naxal or other violent movements. This will be a big threat to the country and society. It has been asked that Agniveers will get gratuity after five years of service.
In another petition filed on behalf of Advocate ML Sharma, the Defense Ministry of the Government of India has been made a respondent and has requested to quash the Agneepath scheme. The petitioner has said in his application that on June 14, 2022, it was decided that Agniveers would be kept for four years through the Agneepath scheme. Of these, 25 per cent will be made permanent, the remaining 75 per cent will not be kept. Whatever the salary etc. will be available for four years, after that there will be no pension etc.
