Samajwadi Party national president and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and party leader Azam Khan on Tuesday resigned from the membership of the Lok Sabha. Akhilesh Yadav was elected MP from Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency in 2019. In the recently held Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Akhilesh Yadav was elected MLA from Karhal assembly constituency of Mainpuri district by defeating BJP candidate and Union Minister SP Singh Baghel by a margin of 67,504 votes. Akhilesh Yadav will now play his role in the politics of opposition in the state assembly. He submitted his resignation after meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in his office. Azam Khan was an MP from the Rampur Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
