BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has given an important statement amid the ongoing controversy across the country regarding the Gyanvapi Masjid. They say that no change can be made in the structure of the Gyanvapi Masjid without repealing the 1991 Places of Worship Act, which was brought through Parliament in the then Narasimha Rao government.
He said that the ongoing action to rebuild the temple at that place is not enough. The “Places of Worship Act” of 1991 has to be repealed first, if they want to build a Shiva temple, he said. Swami said that as long as this Act is in place, it is not possible to build a temple.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should bring a resolution in Parliament to repeal this law. He said that this is just a five-minute job as the BJP is in the majority in both the houses of Parliament.
The BJP leader said, “Also, one way that I have done is to present a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court, after hearing it sent a notice to the government, which is yet to be answered, so till its hearing.” By the way, I do not cancel it according to the law, till then the Gyanvapi temple cannot be built, where the mosque stands.
At the same time, Subramanian Swamy said on Owaisi’s claim that “the mosque will remain till the doom” that he should show where it is written in the Quran. There are only three places for Muslims, one Kaaba, the other Alaska and the third, where Mohammed had fled and hid. These are three places, which cannot be touched, all other mosques can be destroyed at any time.
He said that ask the Amir of Saudi Arabia whether the mosque can be removed, he will say that it can be removed at all. The BJP leader said, “The five-judge Bench of our Supreme Court gave its judgment in 1994 – in Ismail Farooqui v Government of India, they clearly said that the mosque can be removed, demolished and put in another place. . No special place is required to offer Namaz. You can read anywhere.
