Many states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Assam are receiving torrential rains. Although the situation of rain in the capital Delhi is still normal. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of light rain in Delhi on Thursday. The maximum temperature may remain around 37 degree Celsius. Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh are facing a lot of problems due to incessant rains.
On the other hand, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that heavy rains have been predicted in vast areas of the state. The state authorities have taken all necessary precautions. “NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in Kodagu, Karwar and Udupi,” he told ANI. Schools and colleges have been closed in many districts, including Udupi and Kodagu.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed officials to conduct a survey of the flood-affected areas to assess whether the residents of the affected areas need to be relocated temporarily or permanently, his office said in a statement.
He said, “60 villages were permanently relocated after massive floods in 2009, but people returned to their old residences after the flood waters receded. We are looking at the option of building well-equipped rehabilitation centers in high places along the river banks and in low lying areas. So that people can be shifted there if they are affected by the floods.”

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra KV told ANI that three people were killed and one was seriously injured in a landslide at Panjikal village of Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district. Dr. Rajendra said, “Three people have been rescued, one of whom is in critical condition and has been admitted to the hospital.”
The Meteorological Department on Thursday issued a red alert in some parts of Maharashtra including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune and Kolhapur. Meanwhile, Thane and Mumbai are on orange alert till July 10.

Heavy rain overnight in Thane district of Maharashtra has led to flooding at many places. On Thursday morning, water-logging took place around the residence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the city. Thane Municipal Corporation’s regional disaster management cell head Avinash Sawant said that local firefighters received information about the flood near the CM residence in Louiswadi area of the city at around 6.15 am on Thursday. Civil personnel reached the spot and freed the area from flood waters, he said. He said that there were also reports of trees falling at some places in the district.
