Yogi government has returned once with full majority in the UP assembly elections. Let us tell you that many issues were affected in the return of BJP, but the issue of temple is considered important in this. The effect of the rhetoric made by BJP leaders regarding the construction of temples in Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura can be seen in the election results.
In the 1990s, Mandal and Mandir politics was started almost simultaneously. Mandal’s politics had helped parties like the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party to make a place in UP and come to power. However, Mandal’s politics seems to be slowly weakening now. At the same time, there is a connection of people regarding the temple issue. Due to which BJP is also seen successful in expanding its scope.
In fact, the parties that came to power through Mandal politics are now losing their base in the state. The BSP, which was in power in UP, got only one seat in this election. On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party has failed to connect people with it even after all the efforts. In such a situation, BJP, which is known for temple politics, seems to be getting success election after election. Even after being in power, it has seen an increase in its vote share.
Let us inform that this time the SP alliance has got 125 seats in UP. The BJP along with allies has managed to get 273 seats this time. Whereas Congress could get only 2 seats.
It is worth mentioning that the political parties of Mandal got power through this platform, but they were accused that they kept its scope from familyism, caste based politics. He failed to integrate Mandal’s ideology with the agenda of his governance. This also disillusioned the people.
On the other hand, the BJP has increased the scope of its ‘Hindutva’ with temple construction projects. It was seen that in the midst of massive unemployment, inflation issues, corona crisis, high inflation in UP, the issue of Hindutva was very effective, due to which BJP has got great success.
