For a few days, there have been many reports on social media regarding the eligibility of ration card and surrendering it. Now in this regard, the UP government has given a reply saying that no order has been issued to surrender and cancel the ration card. The news going on in the media about the eligibility and ineligibility of the ration card is fake.
Food and Logistics Department Commissioner Saurabh Babu informed through a release that the eligibility standards for ration cards are as per the guidelines set on October 7, 2014. No change has been made in this and no new conditions have been set for eligibility and ineligibility.
He also said that the eligibility of ration card cannot be decided on the basis of pucca house, electric connection, only arms license, motorcycle owner, cow keeper and poultry farmer under the government scheme. Also, they cannot be declared ineligible on this ground.
Under the National Food Security Act, 2013 and the prevailing mandate, there is no provision like recovery from ineligible ration card holders. At the same time, no orders have been issued for recovery either from the government level or from the food office. For this reason, the news being spread for recovery is completely misleading and fake.

A total of 29.53 lakh new ration cards have been made in the last two years since April 1, 2020. At the same time, conditions and mandate have been issued regarding the ineligibility of ration card during October 2014 itself.
