To answer the opposition on the unemployment front ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PM Narendra Modi has directed central ministries and departments to make 10 lakh recruitments in the next 18 months. This announcement comes at a time when the opposition has been continuously raising the issue of unemployment in the country. But BJP MP Varun Gandhi has again surrounded the government.
Varun tweeted and wrote that thank you to the Prime Minister for understanding the pain and heart of unemployed youth. Along with creating new jobs, we will have to make meaningful efforts to fill up more than 1 crore ‘sanctioned but vacant’ posts. To fulfill the promise of providing 2 crore jobs every year, the government will have to move at a faster pace.
According to a report, there are 2.3 lakh posts vacant in the Railways against the sanctioned strength of about 15 lakh. There are 2.5 lakh vacancies in the Defense Department against the sanctioned strength of about 6.33 lakh employees. There are 90 thousand vacant posts in the postal department against the sanctioned 2.67 lakh employees. In the revenue department, there are 74 thousand vacancies against the sanctioned strength of 1.78 lakh employees. About 1.3 lakh posts are vacant in the Home Ministry against the sanctioned 10.8 lakh posts.
Thank you Prime Minister for understanding the pain and heart of unemployed youth.

An official of the Center says that due to the shortage of staff, the work of some departments is being affected. The sanctioned strength has also increased over the years due to the slowing down of the process of new recruitment and the retirement of employees. The government itself had told the Parliament this year that as of March 1, 2020, 8.72 lakh posts are vacant in various departments of the central government.
On the other hand, a user on social media took a jibe at PM’s announcement and said that after becoming PM, 2 crore jobs will come in the year. Black money will come back in 100 days, due to which 15-15 lakh rupees can come in the account of every person. After 50 days of demonetisation, the situation will improve, black money will end, counterfeit currency will end, if not, then I will come to the crossroads at which you call. Who said this? One wrote that is there still a belief that two crore jobs will be available every year, then one asked that it seems that elections are coming.
