Rainfall in Delhi: The people of Delhi, troubled by the heat wave for the last several days, got relief from the rain and cold winds caused by western disturbances late on Wednesday night. Although it is raining in some states of the country these days and monsoon has knocked in many places. This has made the weather pleasant. During the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rain is very likely over Assam and Meghalaya. Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rain is likely over Sikkim, rest of Northeast India, parts of Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh, parts of Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu.
On the other hand, the temperature of the capital Delhi and NCR has also decreased. Today’s minimum temperature in the national capital Delhi will be 30 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature will go up to 39 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season’s average. He said that in the last 24 hours (from 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday), the city received two mm of rain.

Due to incessant rains and rise in the water level of Dihing river, a part of the bridge located in Subankhata area of Baksa district of Assam collapsed on June 15. Traffic came to a standstill due to this.

The Met Office said that the relative humidity was recorded at 56 per cent at 8.30 am. According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the medium category at 8 am on Thursday and the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 130. AQI between zero to 50 ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 considered ‘serious’.

On the other hand, there is a possibility that there is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorms in some areas of the states like Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi etc. Also the sky will be cloudy. With the onset of pre-monsoon in many states, people have started getting relief from the heat. The Meteorological Department says that this time the monsoon will be normal and good rains will continue in terms of agriculture.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in Kamrup district of Assam. Due to this, it has been advised to keep the educational institutions closed there. Meanwhile, landslides triggered by incessant rains have engulfed a section of National Highway 6 in northeast Meghalaya. Due to this the traffic in the area has come to a standstill.
Light to moderate rain is possible over Western Himalayas, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and East Gujarat. Dust storm, thundershower may occur over parts of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, North and Northeast Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh.
