The country’s largest airline Indigo is making big plans for the year 2030. The airline aims to double its domestic-international destinations size in the next six years. Many new routes will also be included in this. Indigo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Albers gave this information on Wednesday. According to Bhasha news, IndiGo is the country’s largest airline with a domestic market share of just over 60 percent. It is also betting big on the A321 XLR aircraft, which is expected to become part of its fleet in 2025.
The aim is to further increase foreign presence
According to the news, the aim of the airline is to further increase its foreign presence. The airline’s CEO said one aircraft is coming every week for the next financial year starting April 2024. Amid the supply chain as well as Pratt & Whitney engine crisis, Albers also stressed that the airline is taking several relief measures which are yielding results and the Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situation is stable. The airline currently flies to 88 domestic and 33 international destinations. There are more than 360 aircraft in its fleet.
Code sharing is with these airlines
Albers said that our ambitious goal is to double our size by 2030 and become an airline with global reach. He said more codeshare partnerships can be expected. IndiGo currently has codeshares with Turkish Airways, British Airways, Qatar Airways, American Airlines, KLM-Air France, Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Atlantic. Codesharing allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carrier and provide seamless travel to different destinations.
There should be an aviation ecosystem in India
According to Albers, India is the world’s most populous country and is soon going to become the world’s third largest economy, so India must have an aviation ecosystem that matches the country’s size, capacity and ambition. Indigo is committed to playing a very important role in this. The A321 XLR aircraft will help the airline further expand its reach. The A321 XLR aircraft are expected to join the fleet in 2025.
