New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri has said that Virat Kohli should take a break from the game to recover from his poor form. Kohli, the former India captain across all three formats, had resigned from captaincy roles last year. He has not scored a century in any format since November 2019. He has had an equally disappointing time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). He has scored just 119 runs in seven matches at an average of 19.83. On Tuesday, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Kohli was dismissed off the first ball in an IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants at the DY Patil Stadium, though skipper Faf du Plessis played a captaincy innings of 96 runs to lead his team to victory.
Kohli set a poor record with that disappointing match in the middle, having played 100 competitive matches without a century. According to a tweet by cricket statistician Mahzar Arshad, Kohli has no longer reached the century in 17 Tests, 21 ODIs, 25 T20Is and 37 IPL matches. India are set to travel to England for a one-off Test in July to complete their prematurely abandoned WTC 23 series last year and Shastri feels the former captain is going through poor form and a break. Is required.
“I’m going straight to the main player here,” Shastri said after Kohli’s first-ball dismissal on the Star Sports show on Tuesday. Virat Kohli is going through poor form and needs a break. Kohli last scored a century against Bangladesh in the Kolkata Test in 2019.
