The team of Gujarat Titans can add Afghanistan’s explosive opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the upcoming season of IPL. The 20-year-old batsman can be included in the replacement team in place of Jason Roy of England. Roy withdrew from the league after the auction citing personal reasons and problems with the bio bubble.
Although there has not been any official statement from the franchise regarding Gurbaz, but according to reports, the team’s think tank has discussed this regard with Afghanistan’s star spinner and Gurbaz’s senior Rashid Khan. Gujarat is waiting for the green signal from the BCCI and after that it can announce it soon.
Significantly, the Afghanistan player had given his name in the IPL auction and had kept a base price of Rs 50 lakh, but then he could not find any buyer there.
Rahmanullah is considered a specialist batsman in limited overs cricket. The right-handed batsman has so far scored 428 runs in 9 ODIs for Afghanistan at an average of 53, including 3 centuries. Apart from this, he has scored 534 runs in 20 T20 Internationals with 3 half-centuries and a strike rate of 137.
