New Delhi. The final of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) will now be played on Reserve Day on Monday instead of Sunday. Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans are going to face each other in the final match of IPL. The final match between Chennai and Gujarat was called off on Sunday due to heavy rain. It was raining so much that even the toss could not take place between the two teams. However, on Monday i.e. even on this day, the possibility of rain has been expressed by the Meteorological Department. In such a situation, the big question is that how will the champion of IPL be decided? So let us tell you about it in more detail.
After what time the overs will be cut?
If it continues to rain today like yesterday and still if the match is started till 9.35 in the night, then there will be no reduction in the overs of the match. Means the match will be played for full 20 overs but if the match starts after this fixed time then the overs will be cut.
What will be the cut off time of the match?
If the match starts after 9.35 in the night, then the overs will start cutting. The longer the delay in starting the game, the shorter the overs. The last time to start the match has been fixed at 12.06. If there is more delay than this, the final will be of only 5-5 overs.
What if even 5-5 overs could not be done?
In the event of a delay in the match due to rain, the final of the tournament can be decided by a Super Over. According to this rule, if it is not possible to complete the 20-over match schedule by the end of the extra time given on the reserve day, then the winner can be decided by a super over.
Even if the super over doesn’t happen?
If even the super over could not be played due to rain, then Gujarat Titans would become the team to win the IPL trophy for the second time in a row. Because, according to the rules, if it is not possible to play the match due to any reason, then in such a situation only the team that will be on top of the tournament of 70 matches will be entitled to the shining trophy of IPL 2023. Accordingly, Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans topped the IPL 2023 points table with 10 wins in 14 matches. Whereas Dhoni had only 17 points in Chennai.
