Meerut Surajkund Sports businessman Deepak Talwar told Local-18 that the balls made in Meerut are in demand all over the world. ICC and BCCI have approved the balls of SG Company of Meerut. They are used in IPL, Test matches and ODI series in India. Along with this, Meerut balls are also supplied in whatever Ranji Trophy or other matches are held.
The ball is ready in a week
Sports businessman Omkar Tyagi says that the ball plays a decisive role in the match. Every cricket lover keeps his eyes on the ball of the last over. It changes the decision of the entire match in a few seconds. It takes a week to prepare the same ball. About 10 to 12 artisans have to work for this. If we talk about the process of making balls, then first of all the leather is washed. After that it is dried and then colored. After this, cutting is done according to the size of the ball. Sewing is done after cutting. The ball is prepared by grinding it with a machine to give it shape. After that the ball is polished in the final stages. In this way it takes about seven days to prepare one ball.

There are also rules for making balls used for cricket. BCCI has set rules for the balls of IPL, ODI and Test matches. The ball is prepared accordingly. Balls are prepared according to 20 overs, 40 overs, 60 overs. The red colored ball is most in demand. However, white and pink balls are also made in Meerut. Sports traders say that white ball is used more in day-night matches. If we talk about its weight, it ranges from 133 to 163 grams.
Annual turnover of Rs 500 crore
SG, SS, SF, Bhalla International, HRS, BDM Cricket are such major companies. Where branded balls are prepared. However, most of the balls of SG company are sent abroad. The ball ranges from Rs 1,000 to Rs 40,000. The annual turnover of cricket balls in Meerut is more than Rs 500 crore.
