New Delhi. The team of Chennai Super Kings, the current champion of the Indian Premier League, has suffered a major setback. In-form fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman will not be able to play in the next IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday. He has returned to Bangladesh to complete the visa process for the T20 World Cup to be held in America and the Caribbean. He will not be available for the next few matches.
Super Kings have won two out of their three matches so far in the current season and will face Sunrisers in Hyderabad on Friday. “He has returned home to complete the visa formalities and will be able to come back only after getting his passport back,” Superkings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan told PTI. Tomorrow he will apply for the visa.
This left-arm fast bowler will apply for the visa along with his other teammates of the Bangladesh team. Mustafizur is leading the list of bowlers taking the most wickets in the tournament by taking seven wickets at an average of 15.14. Mustafizur took four wickets in the opening match of IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22.
The T20 World Cup will start from June 1 and Bangladesh will start their campaign against Sri Lanka in Dallas on June 7. The team will face South Africa in New York on June 10 and will play its last two group matches in the Caribbean. The Bangladesh team had shown an average performance in last year’s ICC ODI World Cup played in India. Talking about the T20 World Cup, this team has never got a chance to go beyond the second round. In the last tournament played, the team was in Group B with India and failed to reach the knock out.
