IPL 2024 Gujarat Titans : The team of Gujarat Titans, captained by Shubman Gill, has had a mixed performance so far in this season of IPL. The team is looking better, but still not in the top 4. Although the team is missing Mohammed Shami a lot, but Vijay Shankar, who has played the World Cup for the Indian team, seems to be the weak link of the team. Gujarat had included him in their team with great expectations, but runs are not coming from his bat.
Vijay Shankar has scored only 40 runs in four matches so far
Vijay Shankar has played the 2019 World Cup for Team India. Along with batting and bowling, he also does amazing fielding, which is why he is called a 3D player. But so far he has not been able to make any significant contribution to his team in this year’s IPL. Talking about his performance, till now he has played 4 matches and only 40 runs have come from his bat. His average is 20 and he is batting at a strike rate of 105.26.
GT was bought during the auction for Rs 1.40 crore
Before the 2022 IPL, Gujarat Titans bought him in the auction. He came at a base price of Rs 20 lakh, but after a long price war between CSK and GT, he came to GT for Rs 1.40 crore. Till now he is playing every match for his team, but his highest score till now is 14 runs not out. He is at sixth position in the list of batsmen who have scored the most runs for Gujarat so far. Only all-rounders and bowlers are visible below them.
Apart from Mohit, there are no bowlers for the death overs.
Gujarat Titans is playing under the captaincy of Shubhman Gill for the first time. Due to the absence of Mohammed Shami, the team does not have any big death overs bowler. Mohit Sharma is compensating for his shortcomings to a great extent, but what can a bowler do? After Hardik Pandya’s departure from the team, it was the responsibility of Vijay Shankar to fulfill his responsibility, but till now he has not been able to bat as per expectations.
