Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Weight and Blood Sugar: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in custody in Tihar Jail. Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21. Delhi Minister Atishi claims that since Kejriwal was arrested, his weight has reduced by 4.5 kg in the last 12 days. Since Kejriwal is a serious victim of diabetes. His blood sugar keeps fluctuating rapidly. Therefore his health is a matter of serious concern. Atishi also says that Kejriwal’s sugar level has fallen three times since he was taken into custody, which is a matter of further concern. But is Kejriwal’s weight loss really a serious matter or if someone is diabetic then what effect can weight loss have on the body in this situation. On this topic we spoke to Senior Diabetologist at Max Healthcare, Gurgaon Dr. Paras Aggarwal talked to.
Sugar and weight connection
Dr. Paras Aggarwal told that as it is said that Arvind Kejriwal is a serious diabetes patient and he also takes insulin. It is being said that he is losing weight. Actually, if any patient is a serious diabetic then his blood sugar goes up and down rapidly. As far as weight is concerned, if a patient is diabetic and is under a lot of stress or gets less sleep, then in that situation people start eating less. This can happen with normal people too. People eat less due to worry and despair. In this situation, weight loss is inevitable. But blood sugar can also be a factor in Kejriwal’s case. However, only the doctor treating him will be able to tell whether Kejriwal’s weight has dropped or not and if it has dropped, then for what reasons. But this is possible in diabetes patients.
When does weight decrease in diabetic patients?
According to a report in PubMed Central Journal, if a patient is diabetic and his blood sugar is seriously much lower than normal, then it badly affects the BMI (weight determined on various parameters of the body). The normal blood sugar level of any person on an empty stomach is 100 mg per deciliter. If it is less than this then it is called hypoglycemia and if it increases then it is called hyperglycemia. If the blood sugar level falls below 54 mg per dl then it is severe hypoglycemia. In this situation, the sugar or glucose level becomes very low, that is, glucose is not able to enter the cells of the body. When energy is not produced in the body, it will use the energy already stored in the body. That means the body will use energy from the fat and muscles stored in the body. In this situation it is obvious that weight will be reduced. Excess weight is also dangerous for diabetes patients and losing excess weight is also harmful. This may cause sudden dizziness and fainting.
