Jerusalem: Amidst the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems to be under siege in his own country. Anger is also being seen among the people against Netanyahu. Thousands of Israelis gathered outside the parliament building in Jerusalem on Sunday in the largest anti-government demonstration since the war against Hamas began in October last year. Protesters urged the government to reach an agreement to free dozens of people held hostage by Hamas in Gaza and to hold elections ahead of schedule.
Hamas terrorists attacked
It is also worth noting that differences have started appearing in Israeli society regarding the war that has been going on for almost six months. On October 7 last year, there was an attack by Hamas terrorists who had crossed the border. In this terrorist attack, 1,200 people were killed and 250 people were taken hostage. About half the hostages were released during a week-long ceasefire in November.
The families of the hostages are worried
After the terrorist attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to eliminate Hamas and return all the hostages home. However, his goal does not seem to be being achieved. The war has suffered significant losses to Hamas, but it is far from over, while the hostages’ families feel time is running out.
‘Netanyahu has failed’
“After six months, it seems the government has realized that Netanyahu is an obstacle,” said Einav Moses, a protester gathered outside the parliament building in Jerusalem. “It seems that he really does not want to bring them (hostages) back and has failed in this mission.” Moses’ father-in-law, Geddy Moses, has been taken hostage.
