A view of an Israeli air strike in central Gaza.
Jerusalem: The Israeli army carried out heavy bombardment in central Gaza late Thursday night. At least 18 people, including children, were killed in IDF air strikes. Health officials gave this information on Friday. They said that a day earlier, 33 people were killed in an attack on a school complex where displaced Palestinians had taken refuge. Officials said that attacks were carried out on the Nussairat and Magazi refugee camps and refugee camps in the towns of Deir al-Balah and Zawaida.
According to hospital records, those killed included four children and a woman as well as the mayor of the Nusayrat refugee camp. The Israeli military said on Friday that its operation in central Gaza was continuing and that troops had killed dozens of militants and damaged infrastructure in the area. The attack came a day after an attack on a UN-run school in the Nusayrat refugee camp killed at least 33 people.
Israel accused Hamas of this
Israel claims that Hamas was using this camp. Pressure is increasing on Israel to stop the bloodshed in the war against Hamas. Spain’s Foreign Minister has announced that it will ask the UN court to allow South Africa to join the case in which Israel has been accused of committing genocide in Gaza. However, Israel has denied this allegation. According to the Health Ministry, more than 36,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza for eight months. (AP)
