Union Minister Giriraj Singh has commented on the violence on the occasion of Eid in Jodhpur. Attacking the Rajasthan government, he said that whatever be the festival, it has become a custom to attack Hindus with stones. Giriraj Singh said, ‘Whether the festival is of Hindus or theirs… it has become a custom to attack Hindus with stones. If the government is secular like Rajasthan, then their performance gets brighter. Had the same incident happened in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh, the treatment would have been done by now, but here the stones are being thrown by the Rajasthan government itself.
The controversy started over the installation of a religious flag at Balmukund Bissa Chowk, located at Jalori Gate in Jodhpur. In fact, the people of the minority community had put the Islamic flag on the statue of freedom fighter Balmukund Bissa. This was opposed by some people of the Hindu community, due to which the controversy escalated. He alleged that the saffron flag which was put up on the birth anniversary of Lord Parashuram was replaced with an Islamic flag. After this, people of both the communities came face to face in large numbers and violent clashes started.
