New Delhi. This matter was heated since the violence in Jahangirpuri. On the previous day, a program to demolish the encroachment took place while converting the area into a cantonment. However, this was put on hold after the order of the court. At the same time, on Thursday, a big decision of the Supreme Court has come out on this matter. The Supreme Court today continued its stay on the anti-encroachment drive in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri and ordered status quo to be maintained. The hearing in this matter will be held after two weeks. Earlier in the court, advocates of the petitioners Dushyant Dave and Kapil Sibal presented their arguments. Dave and Sibal said that the anti-encroachment drive is being linked to Muslims. A particular section is being harassed. Dave and Sibal appealed to stop the anti-encroachment drive across the country. The court said on this that such an order cannot be given for the whole country. The court also observed that only bulldozers have to be used to remove encroachments. The MCD, Delhi Police will respond to the notice before the hearing is held after two weeks. Apart from this, the central government will also give an affidavit in this matter.
Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Police and Central forces personnel were deployed in large numbers, giving Jahangirpuri the color of the cantonment. After this, from 9 o’clock in the morning, the MCD squad had arrived with 9 bulldozers. The encroachment was demolished by bulldozers up to a distance of about 2 km near Kushal Chowk. During this, the encroachment outside Jama Masjid was also broken by bulldozers. Many Hindus had also illegally occupied and built shops here. Action was taken against him also. Though the Supreme Court had ordered a stay of the proceedings, the proceedings continued till two hours after the judgment due to non-compliance of written orders. After this, CPM leader Brinda Karat reached the spot and showed the written order to the police and MCD officers. After which the action was stopped.
