Congress MP Manish Tewari has accused the governments of being reluctant to discuss the issue of national security. Speaking at the Jaipur Literature Festival on Sunday, he also talked about the standoff on the Indo-China border. He said that it has been almost 21 months since this issue. Despite this, there has been no discussion in Parliament yet.
In the Jaipur Literature Festival, he said that I think there is a different reluctance on the part of the government to discuss the issue of national security. Speaking further, he said that when I ask the government to discuss national security, I say it normally. I inform the administrative authorities to discuss serious national security issues.
In this literary festival, he wrote his book ’10 Flash Points; In a session on ’20 Years – State of National Security’, he said that Parliament is a forum to deliberate on very important challenges. Despite this, unfortunately the issues of people expressing state level or body level issues are not discussed in Parliament. Due to which India has to face many difficulties.
During this, he admitted that some issues can be discussed only in the Standing Committees of various ministries including the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Home Affairs, but many issues are not always like this. He said that anything related to the security of the nation is as pure as a cow.
To confirm his point, former Union Minister Manish Tewari said that 43 of his questions asked in September 2020 on the border situation with China have not been answered till date citing a threat to national security. He further said that I do not think that this is a mature democracy.
Talking about the country’s foreign policy and its hostile relations with China and Pakistan, the Congress leader said India needs three decades of peace in its periphery for its internal development and to overcome internal security challenges. To achieve this, it is necessary to make an agreement with Pakistan and China. He said that India has not been able to come out of its neighbourhood.
