On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared Uttar Pradesh Government Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh as its candidate for the Mainpuri parliamentary seat, which is the stronghold of the Samajwadi Party (SP), who will face SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s wife and sitting MP Dimple Yadav. will be. Both have claimed their respective victories on this seat.
Singh said on Wednesday that “she (Dimple) had won the by-election due to the sympathy wave towards SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, but now time has passed and people are demanding account of the development work in the area.” , to which the current MP has no answer.”
Citing the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Central and Yogi Adityanath’s state governments and the ‘rule of law’ in Uttar Pradesh, Singh claimed that the way the people of the state made Yogi Adityanath the Chief Minister for the second time by giving them the mandate in the 2022 Assembly, Similarly, it will make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister for the third time.
Singh said that BJP and its allies will win all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh and Mainpuri is also included in it. Voting for Mainpuri seat will be held in the third phase on May 7. In the 2022 assembly elections, the BJP alliance formed a government with full majority for the second time in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath.
The Tourism Minister said that he is ‘100 percent’ confident of winning the elections on the basis of the public welfare policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Center and Yogi Adityanath in the state. Singh also claimed that Mainpuri assembly seat was also called the stronghold of SP, by winning which he broke their (SP) stronghold and now we will break the stronghold of SP in the Lok Sabha also.
On Singh’s claim, however, Dimple Yadav said, “Whoever comes from here (Mainpuri), it will not make any difference and SP will win the elections by a huge margin.” Singh told PTI over phone, ‘She (Dimple Yadav) had won the by-election riding on the sympathy wave on the demise of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Singh had worked with Congress and SP from 2012-17 before joining BJP in 2017. On Singh’s candidature, Dimple Yadav said, ‘Someone had to field BJP.’ Dimple told PTI, “Whoever comes from here, it will not make any difference. Samajwadi Party is ready to win Mainpuri seat by a huge margin.”
When asked if she believed there was any political challenge for her party, Dimple said, ‘We are getting huge support, love and blessings from the people and the results this time will be much better than last time.’ Samajwadi Party candidate Dimple had won the Mainpuri parliamentary by-election in Uttar Pradesh in 2022 and defeated her nearest rival and BJP candidate Raghuraj Singh Shakya by 2,88,461 votes.
This seat, considered a SP stronghold, was held by party founder and Dimple Yadav’s father-in-law Mulayam Singh Yadav and became vacant after his death on October 10, 2022. In 2019, Mulayam Singh Yadav defeated BJP candidate Prem Singh Shakya by 94,389 votes.
