Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is scheduled to visit India on March 19 in the midst of the Russo-Ukraine war and will discuss global and regional issues with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. Kishida is coming to India for two days at the invitation of Modi. The two leaders are expected to deliberate on the situation in Ukraine.
The war has entered the 22nd day and Russia is making all efforts to capture the cities. President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia is ready to discuss Ukraine’s neutral position, but that Moscow will still achieve its military campaign goals.
Regarding the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “The India-Japan summit will take place on March 19.”
“At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida will pay an official visit to New Delhi from March 19 to March 20 for the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit.”
This will be the first meeting of the two leaders. The last summit was held in Tokyo in October 2018.
India and Japan have a multifaceted cooperation within the scope of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
Bagchi said, the summit will provide an opportunity for the two sides to review and strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields as well as share views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, so as to promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and beyond. May the partnership be taken forward for prosperity.”
