Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda held a meeting with national general secretaries at the party headquarters in the national capital on Sunday. The meeting was held at a time when voting for the last and seventh phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections is to be held on Monday. In this phase, elections are also to be held on the assembly seats falling under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi.
In the last phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, all eyes are especially on the eight assembly seats of Varanasi. Close competition is expected in many of these seats. Of the eight assembly seats, five are within the PM’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi. The eight seats are Banaras City South, Banaras City North, Shivpur, Sewapuri, Chhawni, Ajgara, Pindra and Rohaniya.
Varanasi district is witnessing a multi-cornered contest between BJP, Samajwadi Party and Congress. Voting will be held for 54 constituencies to be held on Monday in nine districts of Mau, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Bhadohi (Sant Ravidas Nagar). A total of 613 candidates are in the fray for the last phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
