Prajwal Revanna
The Congress government in Karnataka will provide financial assistance to the women who were victims of JDS leader Prajwal Revanna. Revanna has been accused of sexual harassment. Congress general secretary and party’s Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala announced the financial assistance at a press conference here in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He said that former Congress President Rahul Gandhi had demanded that appropriate action be taken against the accused. “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced financial assistance to hundreds of rape victims because this is a unique case which has never happened in the last 75 years,” Surjewala said.
Prajwal, the JDS-BJP alliance candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and nephew of former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy. Surjewala, along with Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of protecting their alliance partner JD(S) candidate. Prajwal is accused of raping many women. He asked, “Why did the Bharatiya Janata Party enter into an alliance with the JDS despite knowing about Prajwal?”
Blue corner notice will be issued against Prajwal
Siddaramaiah also wanted to know why the External Affairs Ministry did not stop Prajwal from fleeing abroad. Surjewala asked, “Why did the Prime Minister not cancel Prajwal’s diplomatic passport and why was no Blue Corner Notice issued through Interpol to bring him back?” On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that a Blue Corner Notice will be issued to bring back Prajwal. Prajwal’s father HD Revanna has already been taken into custody by the police. He is also accused of sexual exploitation. (input language)
