Bangalore. The Karnataka government is all set to strictly implement the law regarding Azaan. The move is likely to aggravate the existing social unrest in the state. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and state DG and IGP Praveen Sood on Friday clarified that everyone should follow the law in this regard.
Meanwhile, Shri Ram Sena founder Pramod Muthalik has said that he has started ‘Azaan se azaadi’ campaign in the state. He demanded that the government should ensure the implementation of the law on violation of rules while performing azaan in mosques.
Instructions have been given to resolve the Ajan amicably by holding a meeting of the peace committee at the police station level. Process is going on. Bommai said that everyone should follow the law.
There is a High Court order on Azaan. A circular has already been issued under the same. The rule also specifies the decibel level. He said that the DG has already issued circulars.
IGP Praveen Sood had said that according to the rules, notices have been issued to mosques and other places where the speaker is used. “We will not allow violation of High Court rule at any cost. Police has issued notices all over the state. We will not allow any violation,” he said.
“We will not allow peace to be disturbed in the state,” he said. However, police department sources said that any action against a mosque or a temple for the use of the speaker would have chaotic consequences for the state.
