Riyadh: While on one hand all the countries of the world are progressing, on the other hand the condition of Pakistan is deplorable. While many countries have completely got rid of diseases like polio, it is still a serious problem in Pakistan. This is because Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself has said that Pakistan is making tireless efforts to eradicate polio. He said that sustained efforts are required from all stakeholders to reach the goal of polio-free Pakistan. Pakistan is among those countries where people have lost their lives due to polio.
Sharif discussed with Bill Gates
On the sidelines of a special meeting of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh, Sharif discussed with Bill Gates, founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the ongoing activities between Pakistan and the Foundation in the areas of vaccination, nutrition and financial inclusion. According to a statement, Gates praised the vaccination and polio eradication program carried out in the state under Sharif’s leadership as chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province. Recalling Gates’ visit to Pakistan in February 2022, Prime Minister Sharif invited him to visit the country again, according to the statement. PM Sharif also reiterated his commitment to ensure a strong partnership between Pakistan and the Gates Foundation and to continue working with them.
