New Delhi. The Kerala High Court has expressed its concern over the increasing cases of minor girls becoming pregnant. The court said that the wrong use of the Internet is affecting the children wrongly. To prevent these incidents, sex education of children should be reconsidered. With this, the Kerala High Court has allowed a 13-year-old 30-week pregnant girl to have an abortion. On the increasing cases of child pregnancy, the court said that porn is easily available on the Internet, it is affecting the youth of today very badly.
High Court Justice V.G. Arun said that before passing the verdict on the abortion of 13-year-old girl, it is more important to talk about such incidents i.e. increase in cases of minor girls getting pregnant. Close relatives are involved in most cases of child pregnancies.
Obscene material is easily available
In a hearing held on Thursday, the Kerala High Court said that the youth are getting wrong things because of pornographic material easily available on online platforms. In such a situation, it is very important to tell the youth about the safe use of the Internet. The court further said that the time has come to reconsider the sex education imparted in schools. A 13-year-old minor girl was pregnant by her own minor brother. After which Justice Arun, while hearing the matter, allowed this 13-year-old minor girl to have an abortion.
SC allowed abortion in 24 weeks pregnancy
The Supreme Court had earlier on Thursday overturned a decision of the Delhi High Court allowing an unmarried woman to have an abortion at 24 weeks’ pregnancy. The court had said in this case that the woman is not married, only because of this she cannot be prevented from getting an abortion. However, the Supreme Court has also directed to form a panel under the direction of Delhi AIIMS by July 22 and file every report related to abortion.
