London: Canada is like a safe haven for Khalistan supporters. Khalistani supporters easily carry out anti-India activities from here without any restriction. India has also expressed its concern to Canada regarding this but appropriate action is not taken by Canada. At the same time, Britain has adopted a tough stance on Khalistanis. A pro-Khalistan Sikh activist who pleaded guilty to attacking two Indian-origin men and a female police officer at an event marking India’s Independence Day last year in west London has been sentenced to 28 months in prison. Gurpreet Singh, 26, was convicted in January of assaulting and injuring police constable Justin Nicole Farrell, along with Ashish Sharma and Nanak Singh.
28 months imprisonment
Gurpreet Singh appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday. The incident took place on the night of August 15 last year during an event related to India’s Independence Day at South Hall. Gurpreet Singh was convicted in the case on January 12 and has now been sentenced to 28 months’ imprisonment, a court official said. Gurpreet Singh may also be deported to India after completing his sentence.
People should not spread rumors
Metropolitan Police Superintendent Sean Lynch said: “I recognize that this incident is a matter of concern for South Hall and the Sikh communities in and around London.” Are aware. We would urge people not to spread rumors regarding this incident. None of the injured suffered serious injuries and no one died.” Language
