New Delhi. There is no other relationship like the sacred relationship of brother and sister. The festival of Raksha Bandhan and Bhai Dooj is celebrated in Sanatan Dharma to show this love of brother and sister playing together since childhood. On Rakshabandhan, sisters tie rakhi on brother’s wrist, while on Bhai Dooj, sisters perform aarti after vaccinating their brother and pray for his well being. This year this holy festival will be celebrated on 26 October. Now that only a few days are left for the arrival of Bhai Dooj, in this joy, let us tell you about a temple where brother and sister are not allowed to go together. So let us know which is that temple and the reason behind doing this…
This unique temple of Lord Shiva is situated in a village named Narayanpur situated on the banks of Mahanadi near Kasdol in Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh. The residents around the temple say that this grand temple was constructed during the night time. The construction of the temple took about 6 months. Local residents say that Narayan, the head sculptor of the temple, who belonged to the tribal community, used to go naked and build the temple all night. His wife used to bring food for him at the construction site. The construction of the temple was almost completed, only its peak was left. At the same time, once due to some reason his wife could not take food and in his place sister went with food. Seeing her, Narayan felt extremely embarrassed and jumped from the top of the temple and gave his life.
This story gradually spread all around and since then the brothers and sisters stopped going to the temple together for worship and darshan. One of the main reasons for the ban on visiting brothers and sisters together in this ancient temple is the sculptures of masturbation engraved on the walls there. This ancient Shiva temple of Chhattisgarh is famous all over the world for its architecture. Apart from this, some people say that this temple was built by the Kalachuri period king between 7th to 8th century. The construction of the temple is done by carving the red and black sandstone and the idol has been engraved in it.
