New Delhi. The Indian cricket team made a lackluster start in the two-match Test series against South Africa. Top batsmen including captain Rohit Sharma failed to score big on the first day of the Boxing Day Test. KL Rahul’s half-century brought India out of trouble. Virat Kohli took charge of the team but he too could not score a big score. This stalwart played a short innings but during this time he left two captains behind.
The clash between India and South Africa in the Boxing Day Test was being awaited for a long time. A day before the start of the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had said that he wants to achieve success which no Indian captain has achieved before. South Africa’s bowlers wreaked havoc on the Indian team after losing the toss and came to bat and all the claims fell flat in the batting of the first innings. Thanks to KL Rahul’s unbeaten 70 runs, India scored 208 runs for 8 wickets by the end of the day’s play.
Kohli made a big record with a short innings
Virat Kohli along with Shreyas Iyer took control of Team India against South Africa after initial three setbacks. After losing 3 wickets at the score of 24 runs, India reached 92 runs without any loss till lunch. In the second session, first Shreyas Iyer and then Virat Kohli were out. During his inning of 38 runs, this veteran left former captain and current coach Rahul Dravid behind in scoring runs against South Africa.
Virat Kohli had scored 1236 runs before this match and was trailing Dravid by 13 runs. King Kohli overtook the coach as soon as he crossed 1252 runs against South Africa. After an inning of 38 runs, Virat’s score in the Test against South Africa reached 1274 runs.

This series against South Africa is being played like the World Test Championship. During his innings of 38 runs, Virat Kohli scored 2101 runs in WTC and left captain Rohit Sharma behind in terms of runs. Hit Man has scored 2097 runs in the World Test Championship.
